Unity is Ubuntu's new desktop environment.

Unity was originally concieved to provide a fresh desktop experience for Ubuntu users. It's designed to be easy to use, unique, innovative, and good looking.

Unity and its range of technologies brings simplicity, power, and integration to both users and application developers. Unity puts design and free software at the heart of delivering a powerful and attractive experience.
Unity is now the default desktop experience in Ubuntu 11.04, so all users will get to experience this radical change from the traditional GNOME desktop from Ubuntu versions past.
Ubuntu still uses GNOME, however, and most of what you see on the screen is still GNOME technology. Unity is just a shell running on top of the regular desktop.
Because of this, if you don't like Unity, it's not that hard to change back to regular Ubuntu Classic Desktop from the login screen.

Founded in 2010 by Mark Shuttleworth and Canonical, The Unity Project has gone on to deliver a consistent user experience for desktop and netbook users alike.
Unity and its technologies such as application indicators, system indicators, and Notify OSD, have worked hard to solve common problems in the free software desktop whilst optimizing the experience for touch, consistency, and collaboration.

After I Posting How to Check your PC support with compiz on ubuntu. if your PC support with compiz, you already install compiz on your PC. review about compiz. In a nutshell, Compiz is a compositing manager, which means that it enhances the overall user interaction by adding fancy effects to your windows, from drop shadows to awesome desktop effects like the Desktop Cube or the Expo view.
Compiz can also be a window manager, which means that it is the software between you and your desktop apps. It enables you to move or resize windows, to switch workspaces, to switch windows easily (using alt-tab or so), and so on.

Install

If you don’t mind installing development and unstable branches of applications then Compiz 0.9.2 can be installed using the Unity testing PPA. Caution is advised here as this version of Compiz will throw up issues when installed.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:unity/ppa sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

If you the packages are ‘held back’ install aptitude and run upgrade again.

sudo apt-get install aptitude sudo aptitude upgrade

Heyyy semua, dah lama nich gx posting lagi, dan di waktu luang ini saya menyempatkan untuk posting tentang bagaimana cara mengecek PC kita (sebenernya cuma VGA nya) support menggunakan compiz.
sekilas tentang compiz. ini adalah salah satu yang saya suka dari ubuntu, karena ubuntu ini sudah terintegrasi dengan compiz, namun kalau defaultnya kurang, tapi kita bisa menambahkan plugin extra lagi. seperti animasi bakar, origami kapal, dll. pokoknya keren deh.

namun kali ini saya tidak akan membahas tentang itu plugin extra, mungkin dilain waktu saya akan membahasnya. kembali ke topik. sebenernya mudah sih untuk mengecek. asal PC yang akan di cek sudah punya koneksi internet. saya belum tahu, bagaimana mengecek tanpa koneksi internet, namun bile bro2 mau sharing. silahkan.... First : Download tool compiz dengan melalui Terminal
And Then : Buat File yang sudah di download menjadi Executable dan untuk mengeceknya gunakan perintah dibawah ini Terima Kasih buat Bro lisnux

Sehabis pulang dari rumah teman, gw nyalain kompi.  karna mw cari bahan bwt presentase di sekolah, tapi pas gw koneksiin modem huawei e220 dengan indosatm2 ke maverick gw. ternyata muncul seperti gambar di bawah ini

gw kira suruh masukin password admin... ternyata eh ternyata gw masukin password admin malah keluar lagi ntu problem... sambil gw ngoceh dalam hati karena gregetan gw menemukan ide... tidingtiding. gw masukin password indosatm2... aaaaarrrrggghhhh keluar lagi password.
berfikir.... berfikir dan berfikir gw iseng aja bikin koneksi broadband baru
